Developed by Mutoh Industries, Tokyo, Japan, the Osprey 75”, 102” and 130” printers are Mutoh’s third generation of wide-format solvent printers. Following on the success of the Toucan line with over 6000 units in the market, the Osprey printers incorporate Mutoh’s proven high-end solvent digital inkjet technology. The Osprey line incorporates Spectra industrial strength head technology for true solvent-based inks, as well as several enhancements contributing to a better overall performance and a higher degree of user-friendliness of the printer. This includes improved cosmetics, increased carriage acceleration and speed, heads driven at higher frequency, newly developed inks, bulk ink system integrated into the printer, improved heavy-duty unwinder/winder and improved capping station for facilitating daily maintenance.

Features
Mutoh’s new Osprey 75 offers a maximum media width of 75 inches (1.92 meters) and a maximum printing width of 73.62 inches. The Osprey 102 and 130 offers a maximum media width of 102 inch / 130 inch ( 2.6 / 3.3 meters) and a maximum printing width of 98.43 inches and 125.98 inches. All units and the Osprey 130 incorporates six 256 nozzle Spectra® print heads.

The Osprey offers six color (C, M, Y, K, Lc, Lm) printers making it possible to print directly onto a wide range of standard uncoated PVC and banner materials. The machine incorporates two heating elements, one for media acclimatisation before printing and the other one for post-conditioning of prints. Head height is adjustable in five steps, from 2.5 up to 4.5 mm.

Unattended printing is made possible thanks to 2000 ml (2 liters) ink bottles integrated in the printer, refillable on-the-fly, and a motorized/sensorised media unwinding and winding system with media tensioning mechanism for media rolls up to 308 lbs.

With an average ink consumption between 15 and 20 ml/m², Mutoh’s new Osprey solvent printer will offer a speed of up to 430 ft²/hr (40 m²/hr) and 484 ft²/hr (45 m2/hr) in production mode (360 x 364 dpi, 1 pass, Bi). In photographic mode (360 x 364 dpi, 1 pass, Uni), maximum speed amounts to 215 ft²/hr (20 m²/hr) and 247 ft²/hr (23 m²/hr) and in high quality mode (360 x 364 dpi, 2 pass, Uni) print speed will be up to 107 ft²/hr (10 m²/hr) and 129 ft²/hr (12 m²/hr) In draft mode (180 dpi, 1 pass, Bi dir), the Osprey is able to reach top speeds of up to 861 ft²/hr (80 m²/h) and 968 ft²/hr (90 m²/hr).
